Preparing for Preteens Quest (Part 2)

Once you build the School you will need to buy a Preteen Desk and a Preteen Bookshelf then read 'Harriet Putter and the Greenkeepers Crystal'* for 3.5 hours.

*I found the title especially amusing since I've only just gotten on the Harry Potter band wagon (better late than never!).

Preteen Quest (Part 1)

Good news! In fact, some of the best news ever!

This is an untimed quest!! Which means that you can take all year if you like and it doesn't better.
What could be better than this, you ask? That the Elementary School only take $2,500 and 12 hours to build! That what!

It's All Going Swimmingly Quest (Conclusion!)

Finally! The End!

After talking to the Bunny for a whole day you celebrate by using the Water Slide for another 3.5 hours.

THE END

It's All Going Swimmingly Quest (Part 4)

And the Saga continues...

Because of the error I finally just broke down and spent my last three LPs on the Slide task.

Next is easy, get two Sims in the pool and splash one another (once both are in the pool, select one and the option 'splash' should appear), then they need to chat in the pool (4 min) and go talk to the rabbit out front of the Swim Center for 10 minutes.
Lastly, they will need to spend 1 day talking to the rabbit.

This should bring you to 90%

As an aside, based on the way that this challenge has gone I'm going to guess that the Preteen Challenge that is coming up is going to be even harder.

I'm concluding that you will need to build the Elementary School and I'm thinking that is going to set you back some $200,000 or $250,000, so start saving now.

I was up to $90,000 this morning, then built a Beach House Mansion and moved a family in (which set me back some $58,000)

Know Before you Build

A few things I've learned along the way...

If possible, build the mansions for your Sims, they come pre-furnished with three star appliances, furniture and a three star CAR! And an extra large lot to add onto!

These houses do cost extra, but they only cost Simoleons, not LPs (and it would cost a lot to get everything the house already comes with)

Also, after you build the Car Yard, get the red Sedan, your Weekly Challenge will require it and that way you already have it.

Make sure that all your Sims are gardening, baking or at work at all times, the farther into the game you get the more expensive everything is and the last you want to do is get caught without enough money and have a timed Quest on your hands!
Things like Peppers bring in the most money, they're free and if you have 10 Sims growing them all at one time you can make $80 every minute. That's $400 every 5 minutes! Or $1,000 every 12.5 minutes!

If you have babies, have them sleep all the time. When they wake up you will get some 200+ XP without raising a finger and they're out of the way. Just make sure all their needs are met in the in-between time.

Pets are great at finding money, the higher the rating the more they'll find. I've gotten LPs from 1 star dogs and cats before though, so don't put it past them. And Rabbits cost money, not LPs, making them a good choice if you're trying to save up.

Make sure to check the Shopping Cart often for deals to get free LPs (your best bet are the videos since they're guaranteed free and they don't require any personal data). In the Upper Left Hand Corner is a blue diamond, that's where you access the free offers.

The more your town is worth the more LPs you can earn from it.
Also, leveling up is another great way to earn LPs.

If you have any suggestions please comment below, I'm sure we all would like to know.

Variant Terms in the Game

Benchtop = Countertop

Car Park = Parking Lot

Car Yard = Car Dealership/a place to buy cars

Did I miss one? Comment below and I'll add it.

It's [not] All Going Swimmingly (Part 3)

I am not going to be able to finish this Quest within the time limit.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR LPs on this Quest!!

You will now need to sit in the Lifeguard's chair (I forget how long - I think 12 hours),
get all the medals in the level one Swimming Hobby (easy if you have 4 Sims all diving at the same time), then you need to stare at the water slide for some 16.5 hours, next, you need to Run Fake Errands for 22.5 hours!
After all that you will need to pet a stray cat (it will have an exclamation point on it) for 3 hours and then spend 16 hours giving it directions.
This should get you to the 68% mark.
Now, you need to spend 3.5 hours using the water slide.

I keep receiving an error as I'm trying to use the water slide: 'One or more of your Sims were unable to continue their actions when the weather changed'.

I have gone from 31 to 2 LPs on this Challenge. I was hoping that maybe some of the tasks would be long and the rest short, this does not appear to be the case. Every task is long and you should just resign yourself to the fact that you will not finish this task within the time limit, if you did not have the money to build the Swim Center right off the bat.

It's all Going Swimmingly Quest (Part 2)

If you don't already have $150,000 to spend building the Swim Center then you are much more than likely to not meet the time limit on this goal.
I had to spend almost 2 days raising the funds.
After you build the center you need to look at a diving board for 12 hours, have 5 Sims at the pool at one time, admire the trophies and then spend 1 day hiding in the bathroom (I may have the order slightly off). After all this you should be at about 18%. Lastly, you need to talk to the Bunny out front for 8.5 hours.

To be Continued...

Wednesday 19 February 2014

It's all Going Swimmingly Quest (Part 1)

The first step is to build the Swimming Center (to the right of the Town Hall)

You will get 5 days and 23 hours- you will be needing every second of it I am sure.

This takes $150,000 (Yikes!!) and 42 hours (Double Yikes!!!)

Right now I only have some $63,000 so my first plan of action is to plant and harvest onions.

I may very well break down and buy some currency using real money, we'll see how far I can get using traditional methods.

Toddler Quest Conclusion

Once you talk with the Statue you need to celebrate by listening to the stereo.

That's it!

A Glitch with the Toddler Quest

An error in my game  has occurred and I have no idea how to fix it and contacting EA has gotten me no where.

Two of my Sims were at work and another was getting advice from the statue, when all of a sudden I kept being redirected to the home screen. After the third time I turned off my iPod, hoping to reset everything back to normal. I forgot, however, to close the app (by pressing the Home Button twice) and I have had to restart the Statue task again and my two Sims were sent home early from work, but are still dressed for work.

If everything goes well, I should still be able to finish the Quest in time to get the reward.

If anyone else has had these problems and has been able to resolve them, or even just to know that I'm not alone; Please Let me Know!

Hopefully everything will get sorted sooner than later!

Toddlers Quest (Part 2)

After you finish building the pet store you need to adopt a new pet for your toddler. Thankfully there is a free one-star Greyhound.
You will need to buy a 'dollhouse' for your toddler (these are the houses about half-way through the Toddler section of the Children's Store).
Next, you need to make some coffee and then make some Rocky Road (which takes 12 hours).
After all this you will need to go to the park and visit the ducks, talk to a statue in the park, have a staring contest with the statue in the park and finally spend 24 hours having a heart-to-heart with the statue.
This should bring you up to 85% complete at this point.

If at ALL possible save your LPs.

During your usual 'Tutorial Quest' you will need to get a cat, which cost 6 LPs (for the cheapest one- the most expensive one is 80 LPs).

I don't know if you will be needing LPs to launch your baby into the Toddler stage.

I will update you as soon as I'm done in the park!

Toddlers Quest (Part 1)

This task looks like one of the hardest ones to accomplish in time. We shall see...

You get 4.5 days.

First, you need to watch a documentary, then a kids show, both on the T.V. and change your baby's diaper.
Here's where it gets hard. You have to build the Pet Shop, which cost $100,000 and takes 36 hours to complete construction. (I thought the bridge was bad!) It took me some 7 hours to get enough money to build it. However, I would save your LPs until you absolutely need to use them.
I like to wait until construction is down to 1h 59 min. to use a LP (you cut construction down two hours and only use one LP)

My pet shop still has about 30 hours on it.

One of the best and fastest ways to earn money is to get a garden patch for each of your Sims and place them all at one house, gather all the Sims at that house and garden. If you're going to be sleeping or unable to connect to the internet I suggest Onions or Beans. Otherwise have half do Peppers and the other half Carrots. I was able to make $4,000 in under an hour with 6 (or so) Sims. Also, remember that you can make $300 every hour just by checking your 'Starter House' every minute. Plus, your dog can't hurt.

Raiders of the Lost Artifacts (Conclusion)

Now you need to eat a snack and then rummage through the rubbish (kick over your rubbish bin and then spend 8.5 minutes cleaning it up).
Next, I had to plant onions and watch T.V. then at 76% it told me to do random tasks until I received the last thing to build the monument.
I found it when I took a shower for 1 minute, but it really could be anything. My suggestion is to try each thing for the shortest thing working your way through your house.
I planted some peppers, went to the bathroom, washed my hands and then took the shower, which earned me the hammer (I think) I needed.

Hope you are able to accomplish this quest in time! The reward really is worth it.

Raiders of the Lost Artifacts (Part 1)

This Challenge is different for every person, this my experience.
You get 23 hours.

The first task is to go to the monument closest to the bridge. It is brown, to the left of the bridge in the middle of a grassy spot.

The next thing is to 'read the big book of stuff', which takes 16 hours on a 3 star book case.

Mysterious Island - Conclusion

Once your bridge is finished and you 'visit' it, the Challenge is complete.

On to the Raiders of the Lost Artifacts Challenge!

Wednesday 12 February 2014

Mysterious Island (Part 2)

After making the Croissants (you should now be at 90%), you are now ready to build your bridge.

It requires $20,000 (ouch!), 30 hours and a minimum of 8 Sims.

Keep in mind that you cannot build two things at once and once you start construction you cannot stop or pause it.

Baby Crib Comparison

I personally could not find any resources on which crib to buy to have a baby once I had finished the Love is in the Air Quest.
I have only bought two cribs and in no way consider myself an expert.

First, you can only add one Sim at a time. Meaning that if you're wishing to add an adult Sim and a baby do the adult first.

The yellow crib (6 LPs) requires 24 hours to make a baby. No additional fees.

The white crib ($6,000) requires '1 day and 3 LPs' to make a baby. I'm trusting there are no additional fees.

So, in other words: spend the money and save the LPs because despite the difference in price and currency you will not be saving yourself any time.

I'd like to try the 16 LPs crib - But I just cannot bring myself to spend that many LPs on something I'm only going to use one time.

Don't forget that once you get a baby and complete the Toddlers Quest (I have yet to get to it) you can place the crib in your 'Inventory' and use it again to create another baby for another happily married Sims couple!

Note: Your Sims MUST be married in order to have a baby.

Please share your crib experiences in the comments below!

The Mysterious Island Quest (Part 1- first 80%)

Now that you have completed the Beach Front Homes quest (which I will come back to) it's time to get down to some serious infrastructure.
You get 3 days to complete this Challenge and the first 80% is very easy and quick (I'm under the impression all your time is going to be spent building the bridge, which I estimate to take 24 hours.)
You will need to get a tea pot ($500) a telephone (which you should already have from a previous Quest, I recommend the expensive one), a computer (which you should already have) (I use the $1,500 2 star model) and a World Globe ($10,000)- yep $10,000! You need to start saving now.
*You will watch the news (4 minutes) call the construction company (about 10 minutes) watch a special on T.V. (about 15 minutes) call the construction company back, mail a letter (4 seconds), call the construction company again (15-ish minutes), use the computer (about 8.5 minutes) then make some croissants (18 hours), which is as far as I have gotten today.

*I may have the order a little out of place, but overall the first 80% should take only about an hour.

Happy building!

Love is in the Air Quest

So, now its time to start getting your Sims hitched!

This is a challenge which means that it is timed. Complete the challenge in time to unlock a Wedding Bundle which means that you will be able to dress your female Sims like brides. Very elegant!
Every hour that you spend not completing the challenge is two LPs (Lifestyle Points- the yellow diamonds to the right of the Simoleons) you will have to use to make up lost time. And there's no quick way to earn LPs!
You only get about 2 1/2- 3 days to complete this quest.

You can use any of your Sims to complete any of these tasks, with the exception of reaching Relationship Milestones between the two Sims that you wish to be married in the end.

The very first thing is to have a Sim take a 'Rich Lather' shower, 15 minutes.

Now it's time to start building your Sims' relationships.
Once you have a girl and guy Sim become 'Best Friends'(by selecting them and choosing an option that is green - your best bet is 'Be Nice', which takes 1 minute to do), the option 'Be Romantic' and 'Dance' (both Pink) should pop up. Do these actions until you reach 'Budding Romance' at which point you will be instructed to watch T.V. I think it's a movie which is 1 hour and 45 minutes long, on a 2 star T.V. I can't remember if you have to finish the movie. I don't think I did, but that may have only been a glitch.

All of this earns you loads of XPs!
You will be required at some point to buy a 3 star bed. The sooner the better!
Then you need to "Sleep through Alarm", which on a 3 star bed takes 9 hours, 11 hours on a 2 star bed. And there is no way to speed up this process!
Once you wake up you'll need to make yourself a cup of coffee. You do that by purchasing a coffee maker from the Home Goods Store. I recommend the cheaper of the two.
Now, it's time to 'WooHoo', 'Ask to Move in' and get 'Engaged'. In order to become ‘Engaged’ you MUST do all of these actions in order
NOTE: The more expensive the ring the more likely they will say yes. The only ring you will be able to choose at first is the Eternity Ring, which will cost 10 LPs.
Before you can get hitched however, you have to build the Park. This is where all your time is going to get dried up. It will take $2,500 to build and 8 hours to complete (if I remember right). Then you'll have to get 5 Sims to the park and spend 15 more minutes talking to ducks before you can finally marry your first set of Sims. I wasted the first half a day and was able to make the challenge with about 2 hours to spare, but I also wound up using quite a few LPs to finish in time.

If I left anything out or you have any questions please comment.
